There are a lot of things a good actor can do, but one thing an actor - any actor - can’t do is fake being smart. Jesse’s one of the smartest actors, one of the smartest people, I’ve ever met. Like a lot of people, I grew up worshipping The Graduate. I used to wonder what it must have felt like for Buck Henry to see and hear Dustin Hoffman play those scenes for the first time during rehearsal. After this experience with Jesse, I don’t wonder anymore - I know exactly how Buck Henry felt.
